A team of physicians at the American Medical Centre, one of the Medical School’s partner hospitals in Cyprus, has performed a pioneering surgical procedure on a woman whose face was paralyzed after being involved in a car accident.  The team of doctors conducted the surgery on a patient, who suffered a severe brain injury resulting in the complete paralysis of the left part of her face.
According to an announcement by the American Medical Center, the pioneering surgery was performed successfully on the 26th of June.  The operation lasted 10 hours and the patient was discharged five days later. In the coming months, it is expected that the movement of her face will return to normal.  It is noted that surgeries of this kind are performed only in very few medical centers around the world.
