The Medical School in collaboration with the Nicosia-Kyrenia Medical Association ‘Hippocrates’ organised on July 8 a Symposium titled ‘Ethics and Professionalism in Medical Education and Medical Practice: UK and Cyprus’.  The symposium proved to be successful and included participants spanning many disciplines. The discussions were productive and included a number of extremely sensitive ethical issues, including euthanasia as a global issue, the use of the Doctrine of Double Effect, and some ethical and legal issues surrounding medical research and the IVF process in Cyprus.
