Outgoing SGUL Principal - Kopelman2Professor Peter Kopelman, the outgoing Principal of St George’s, University of London, was honoured by the Medical School at an event in Nicosia on 15 October.  Prof Kopelman was instrumental in the creation of the Medical School, whose first offering was the SGUL graduate-entry 4-Year Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery.  During his tenure, the Medical School and SGUL also signed a long-term extension of their partnership agreement and expanded this relationship by offering a Postgraduate Diploma and Master in Family Medicine as concurrent awards from both institutions. In addition, Prof Kopelman presided over the graduation of the MBBS-4 programme’s first cohort of medical students in Cyprus. Speakers included Prof Michalis Attalides, Rector of the University of Nicosia,Prof Andreas Charalambous, Executive Dean of the Medical School, and Dr Adonis Ioannides, the school’s Course Director, in addition to Prof Kopelman.
