Faculty members have been busy with publications, presentations and accepting nominations to join international academic and professional committees.

Dr Alexandros Heraclides is the first author of the research paper ‘Y-chromosomal analysis of Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots for detecting genetic similarities between the two communities’ published in the PLOS ONE Journal.

Dr Costas S Constantinou is the main author and Maria Perdikogianni a co-author of the article ‘A comparative method for themes saturation (CoMeTS) in qualitative interviews’ published in the Qualitative Research Journal.

Dr Costas S Constantinou has also been approved by the Cyprus Research Promotion Foundation to participate as the Cyprus Delegate in the Management Committee of the COST Action ‘Reducing Old-Age Social Exclusion: Collaborations in Research and Policy (ROSEnet)’.

Dr George Samoutis is one of the editors of the research paper ‘Implementing shared-decision-making for diabetes care across country settings: What really matters to people?’ published in the Science Direct Journal.

He is also one of the authors of the paper ‘Development and evaluation of person-centred care services: do not forget compassion’ published in the British Medical Journal.

Dr Julia Hynes is the author of the paper ‘I want you to pretend to be sincere’ published in the Medical Education Journal.

She also presented her paper ‘Prudent Clinical Decision Making and Problem Based Learning’ at the  UNESCO Chair in Bioethics 12th World Conference which took place in Limassol, Cyprus, in March 2017.

Dr Constantinos Zervides, MD Course Lead of Physics in Medicine, after nomination by the Society for Radiological Protection of the United Kingdom, has been invited to become a corresponding group member of the International Congress Programme Committee (ICPC) of the 15th International Radiation Protection Association Congress (IRPA15), which will be held in Seoul, Korea, from 11 to 15 May 2020.

IRPA15 is a premier conference for those engaged in radiation protection activities in all countries to communicate more readily with one other, and to share their accumulated knowledge and experience for the advancement of radiation protection worldwide, and to facilitate the safe use of medical, scientific, and industrial radiological practices for the benefit of mankind.
