The latest activities of our Faculty members include: publications, protocols, conference participation and appointments to editorial boards:

Professor Peter Karayiannis was one of the guest speakers at the 7th International Tehran Hepatitis Conference held in Tehran, Iran between September 6 and 8, 2017. Professor Karayiannis presented two papers entitled ‘Is OBI the Fifth Phase in HBV Natural History?’ and ‘An Update on the Virology and Molecular Biology of Hepatitis D Virus’. He also conducted a workshop on ‘Peer Review’. Professor Karayiannis took advantage of his visit to Iran to visit the University of Medical Sciences in Shiraz where he gave a lecture at the Health Policy Research Center entitled ‘Future options in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C in non-responding patients.’

Clinical Professor Panayiotis Hadjicostas is co-author of the article High prevalence of vitamin d3 deficiency in patients with rheumatic diseases and musculoskeletal disorders in Cyprus published in the Annals of Rheumatic Diseases journal (June 2017 – Volume 76 – Suppl 2)

Associate Professor Costas S Constantinou is the first author and Lecturer Maria Perdikogianni the co-author of the article titled ‘Medical Students’ Attitudes and Beliefs towards Psychotherapy: A Mixed Research Methods Study’ published in the journal ‘Behavioral Sciences’ (2017, 7(3), 55).

Dr Costas S Constantinou is also the co-author of the book “Social research in health and illness: case-based approaches” published by Routledge (2017-08-07)

Associate Professor George Samoutis is one of the authors of the research paper entitled ‘Time-motion analysis as a novel approach for evaluating the impact of environmental heat exposure on labor loss in agriculture workers’ in the journal ‘Temperature – Medical Psychology and Beyond’(Volume 4, 2017 – Issue 3).

He is also a co-author of the short report titled ‘The sun is shining on Cyprus’s National Health Service’ published in The Lancet (Volume 390, No. 10092, p360, 22   July 2017)

Associate Professor Demetrios Kanakis has been appointed to the Editorial Board of a new scientific journal named “Techniques in Neurosurgery and Neurology”.

Dr Kanakis is also the first author of the Case Report titled ‘Desmoplastic Non-Infantile Ganglioglioma; An Incidental Finding with Unusual Localization’ published in the journal Techniques in Neurosurgery and Neurology’ (Volume1 Issue1 August 2017).

Assistant Professor Constantinos Zervides is the last author of the ‘Quality control in cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) EFOMP-ESTRO-IAEA protocol’ published by EFOMP, ESTRO and IAEA and circulated through ‘Physica Medica’ journal (July 2017 Volume 39, Pages 67–72)
