Medical School graduates continuing on their path of excellence

Just six years after welcoming its first students, the Medical School has established a reputation in Cyprus and internationally for providing innovative and high-quality education.

This is also reflected in the success its graduates have enjoyed by going on to secure placements at prominent medical centres worldwide.

Of the 174 graduates from the 2015-2017 classes, four have been placed at Harvard (Massachusetts General Hospital), eleven at University of Oxford hospitals (John Radcliffe Hospital and Stoke Mandeville Hospital), and five at University of Cambridge hospitals (Addenbrooke’s Hospital and Papworth Hospital).

A significant number of others have secured posts at prestigious London medical centres such as St. Mary’s Hospital, King’s College Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital, University College Hospital, and Royal London Hospital.

In the US, meanwhile, apart from Harvard, graduates have been placed at prominent hospitals including Thomas Jefferson University and the Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, Mount Sinai in New York, and Boston University in Massachusetts.

In fact, there are graduates of the Medical School in 11 US states, among which Texas (Peter Smith Hospital), Illinois (Rush Oak Park Hospital), Louisiana (Ochsner Medical Center and Tulane University) and West Virginia (Marshall University).

In Canada, graduates obtained residencies at hospitals of a similarly high standard, including the Universities of Dalhousie, Toronto, Ottawa, and Saskatchewan.

Ireland has welcomed graduates at University Hospital Limerick and Cork University Hospital. In Israel, the Sheba Medical Center has also opened its doors to Medical School graduates. Last but not least, in Lebanon, three residency positions were awarded in the highly competitive medical programmes at American University of Beirut, the Lebanese American University and the University of Balamand.

The University of Nicosia Medical School was established in 2011, offering a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in cooperation with one of the UK’s leading medical schools, St George’s, University of London. Today, four programmes of study are offered:  the MBBS, a Doctor of Medicine (MD), a Master in Family Medicine, and a PhD in Medical Sciences.
