Medical School extends Student Training Programme agreement with Shriners Hospitals for Children in North America

The University of Nicosia Medical School and the Shriners Hospitals for Children have recently amended their existing agreement for a Student Training Programme in North America.  Under the amended agreement, medical students from both the MBBS-4 and MD-6 programmes will have the opportunity to receive clinical training at any of the 22 hospitals in the Shriners network as part of their elective rotations.  This is an opportunity for medical students to experience a different healthcare delivery environment and a different structure and dynamics of a healthcare system.  In addition, the agreement covers the expansion of research collaboration between Shriners Hospitals and the University of Nicosia Medical School to discover new knowledge that will improve the quality of care and the quality of life of children and their families as well as the exchange of faculty and staff between the 22 Shriners Hospitals and the University of Nicosia Medical School.

The extended agreement was signed in Tampa, Florida on 28 November by Executive Vice President, John P. McCabe on behalf of Shriners Hospitals for Children Inc. and by Executive Dean, Professor Andreas Charalambous on behalf of the University of Nicosia Medical School.
