During a press conference to mark the 12th European Week for the Prevention of Cervical Cancer, held on Wednesday 17 January 2018, the Minister of Health Dr George Pamborides announced the commencement of the fourth phase of the pilot cervical cancer screening programme for some of the remote regions of Limassol and Larnaca/Famagusta districts.

Associate Dean of Academic Affairs, Dr Adonis Ioannidis, announced that the screening programme will be run by the School’s Mobile Clinic in collaboration with BPW – Business Professional Women, Cyprus Chapter and with the support of the Ministry of Health.  He added that gynaecologist Dr Savvas Argyrides will lead the School’s gynaecological team comprised of doctors and students.  Once a month they will visit the Health Centre of Ormideia village (Larnaca/Famagusta district) and the Health Centre of Pachna (Limassol district) where they will perform PAP tests for free for as many women as possible between the ages of 25 and 60. The screening programme will start in February and will last until all the interested women of the abovementioned districts have been tested.
