The latest activities of our Faculty members include publications and appointments to editorial boards:

Assistant Professor Constantinos Zervides is one of the authors of an article titled ‘A patient-centric approach to quality control and dosimetry in CT including CBCT’ published in Physica Medica (Volume 47, March 2018, Pages 92-102)

As of May 2018, Dr Zervides has been appointed as a CREST assessor.  CREST is the British Science Association’s flagship programme for young people, providing project-based science enrichment activities to inspire and engage 5-19 year olds.

Associate Professor George Samoutis is one of the authors of a short note titled ‘Links between Night-Time Thermoneutral Zone and Mortality from Circulatory Causes in the Elderly Population of Cyprus’ published in the Journal of Geriatric Medicine and Gerontology (Volume 4, Issue 1).  The current work is part of the project which has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 668786 (HEAT-SHIELD).

Associate Professor Dimitrios Kanakis is the senior author for ‘PTTG-1 (Securin) immunoexpression in meningiomas correlates with tumor grade and proliferation rate: potential use as a diagnostic marker of malignancy’ published in PubMed (2018 Apr;126(4):295-302).

He is also the senior author for the case ‘A 74-Year-Old Female with a Well Circumscribed Parietal Lobe Mass’ published in Brain Pathology, Case of the Month January 2018 – Case 2, 437-438.

Since February 2018, Dr Kanakis has been appointed to the editorial boards of the American Research Journal of Anatomy and the Journal of Cancer Biology and Research and since June 2018 to the editorial boards of the Bentham Science Journals Current Alzheimer Research and Current Neurovascular Research.

Last April Dr Kanakis attended the 1st Panhellenic Congress of Medical Students ‘Leucippus’ where he chaired a round table discussion titled ‘Primary intracerebral sarcomas; How rare they really are’

Professor Peter Karayiannis is the senior author for the Invited Editorial ‘HBsAg serum levels in HBeAg-negative chronic HBV infection – is it a matter of genotype?’ published in Wiley Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, (Volume 48, Issue 1, July 2018, 102-103)
