The Medical School is pleased to announce that the book Social Research in Health and Illness: case-based approaches co-authored by Dr Costas Constantinou, Associate Professor and Associate Dean for Students at the Medical School and by Professor Constantinos Phellas, Vice Rector for Faculty and Research at UNIC has received the 2018 BMA Medical Book Award ‘Highly Commended’ in the Health and Social Care category.

This is the second book by Medical School faculty which has received a BMA award.  In 2016, Clinical Communication in Medicine co-edited by Professor Alexia Papageorgiou received a ‘Highly Commended’ award in the Basis of Medicine category.

Faculty members Dr Costas Constantinou and Dr Theano Kalavana also contributed to the book with a chapter each.

The BMA Medical Book Competition has been held annually since 1994 by the BMA’s Board of Science and is administered by the BMA Library. Its aim is to encourage and reward excellence in medical publishing and patient information.
