The University of Nicosia Medical School commences a new cervical screening programme targeted to the Filipina domestic workers in Cyprus in collaboration with the Filipino Association Obreras Empowered and with the support of the Histopathology and Cytology Medical Centre (Dr Doros Lysiotis) in Nicosia.

The first screening took place on Sunday 26 May 2019 at the Medical School.  Twenty three Filipina women were examined by Medical School’s Clinical Lead for Obstetrics and Gynaecology Dr Savvas Argyrides.  The Medical School plans to perform the screenings for free for as many Filipina women as possible.

In parallel to this the Medical School in collaboration with Business Professional Women and with the support of the Ministry of Health continues for a second consecutive year to  offer free PAP tests to women living in remote areas of Larnaca and Limassol districts.  So far more than 500 women have been examined.
