The Medical School through its Mobile Clinic is taking part in rECORD, an epidemiological study of the ‘Prevalence of rheumatic and musculoskeletal diseases in Cyprus and their impact on daily functionality and quality of life’. Other partners include the Cyprus University of Technology, the Cyprus Rheumatology Society and the Rheumatology Patients Association.

In the coming months the Mobile Clinic will visit selected communities and neighbourhoods across the country for the screening of symptoms related to rheumatic and musculoskeletal disorders.  Medical student volunteers will be involved in the collection of data (face-to-face interviews) and will observe rheumatologists examining patients.  The first expedition is scheduled for this Saturday, 5 October 2019 at the mountainous village of Kyperounta.

One of the main researchers and member of the scientific committee of the rECORD study is Clinical Professor of Rheumatology Joseph Joseph.  Another main researcher is  Dr Evie Vassiliou, Clinical Assistant Professor of General Practice at the Medical School who will be in charge of the expeditions
