Dr Christiana Demetriou has been appointed as the Programme Coordinator of the Master of Public Health, in the Department of Primary Care and Population Health.  Dr Demetriou joined the Medical School in October 2018 as an Assistant Professor in Epidemiology and Public Health. She has since been involved in teaching Epidemiology, Public Health and Research Methodology across all programmes of the Medical School.

Dr Demetriou’s research interests revolve around the epidemiology of chronic conditions, and more specifically, of neurodegenerative and neoplastic conditions. She is involved in the molecular investigation of the common links between chronic diseases, ‘Diseasome – an approach to understanding gene-disease interactions.’ In addition, she participates in research on the processes through which external exposures become internalized to influence health ‘biological embedding.’
