Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in Neuroscience, Dr Charalambos Charalambous recently attended a Leadership Workshop tailored for rehabilitation professionals and scientists at the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine (ACRM) Spring Meeting in Atlanta, GA, USA. The workshop aimed to enhance communication and leadership skills for healthcare providers, researchers, administrators, and clinicians. Dr Charalambous, an Early Career ACRM member, participated in the one-day intensive Leadership Development Course, which focused on developing skills to lead diverse teams and becoming a more effective leader in research and rehabilitation. The workshop is part of the Leadership Mentoring Programme offered by ACRM, which provides tailored leadership training to members at different career stages. Dr Charalambous is being mentored in the programme by Dr Abiodun Akinwuntan, Dean of the School of Health Professions at the University of Kansas Medical Center. In addition to the workshop, Dr Charalambous also had the opportunity to discuss his research at the Shepherd, a top rehabilitation hospital in the USA, with the Spinal Cord Injury Group led by Dr Edelle Field-Fotte.
