Surgery for Congenital Heart Disease – Past, Present and Future

The lecture will give a brief overview of the history of congenital heart disease surgery.  It will describe the most common congenital defects and discuss current treatment options available.  Future challenges and opportunities will also be presented.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr Tzanavaros holds an MD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens Medical School. He is a cardiac surgeon and board certified congenital and paediatric cardiac surgeon. His Doctorate thesis was completed in Charité-Medical University  Berlin.

His research interests cover the whole range of congenital heart disease, especially minimally invasive congenital heart surgery.
