The Medical School welcomed last August and May respectively Dr Michael Murphy in the position of Chief Operating Officer and Ms Ifi Christoforou as Human Resources Manager.

Michael MurphyDr Murphy comes to the Medical School with extensive experience of strategic and policy development in the educational and charity sectors both in the UK and internationally, with a track record of organisational and staff development to achieve strategic objectives.  For the past 14 years, he worked for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists in London, starting as Head of Examination Department, moving to Director of Education and subsequently to the joint post of Deputy Chief Executive/Executive Director of Global Education.  Dr Murphy holds a BA (First Class Hons) in Russian and Linguistics from the University of Birmingham, an MA in Linguistics from the University of California at Los Angeles, an MSc in Organizational Behaviour from Birkbeck College at the University of London, and a PhD in English from the University of Birmingham.

 

 

 


Ms Christoforou, who has an MBA from Henley Business School, UK, has over 30 years of experience, having worked for the University of Nicosia for the past 25 years.  Until recently she worked as Head of the Office of the President of the Council. In addition to managing the operations of the President’s Office and the activities of the University Council, Ifi has engaged in coordinating numerous special projects at the University involving personnel, admissions, technology, and retention, among others.
