Loizos G. Loizou is Clinical Professor of Pediatrics, Pediatric Oncology/Hematology/Immunology at the Medical School of the University of Nicosia.
Prof Loizou received his Medical Degree from the University of Brussels (Université Libre de Bruxelles), Belgium. He received a post graduate Diploma in Preventive Pediatrics from the University of Strasburg, France and his Diploma of specialist in Pediatrics from the University of Nancy, France. He also holds training certificates in Pediatric Oncology/Hematology/Immunology and HSCT (bone marrow transplantation) from the University of Nancy, ESO and SIOP. Doctoral dissertation in progress, PhD at the University of Newcastle, UK.
His research includes a) causes, prevention, epidemiology, genomics and better understanding of the issues related to the childhood and adolescent cancer and leukemia and b) childhood cancer survivors quality of life in adulthood. He is currently conducting the research project “Cancer in Children in Cyprus 1990-2017: Epidemiology and outcome” in the frame of his PhD at the University of Newcastle, UK.
