Ricardo Romero-Guevara is a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow at the University of Nicosia Medical School.

Ricardo Romero-Guevara obtained his BSc in Biology in the “Universidad de Guadalajara”, Mexico and his PhD in the University of Sheffield, UK.  His doctoral thesis focused on the function of FGF signaling during the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells towards inner ear progenitors.  Since then, Dr. Ricardo has focused in the use of stem cells, both as models of disease for drug screening and basic research, and as a prospective source for cell replacement therapies.

Throughout his career he has obtained several competitive postdoctoral fellowships. Currently, Dr. Romero-Guevara is a DIDAKTOR postdoctoral researcher at UNic Medical School, and his project (lead by Dr. Christodoulos Xinaris at Medical School) focuses in establishing an In vitro model of a genetic kidney disease called Alport nephropathy. Their model could be used to identify drugs for treating patients with this and other types of kidney disease.
