Profile

Savvas Omorphos is a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia Medical School.

Dr Omorphos is a Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Hippocrateon Private Hospital, with special interest in minimally invasive and robotic surgery. He qualified from the University of Manchester and obtained an MSc in Urology from the University College London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England.  At the University of Nicosia Medical School, he is the Clinical Lead for Surgery at Hippocrateon Private Hospital for second year students of the MBBS programme, and the Co-Lead for MED-504 Nephrology, Urology and Transplant Surgery course of the MD programme.

His clinical interest is mainly surgery for urological cancer and also complex stone surgery. Academically, he has numerous academic achievements and has been involved in laboratory based research,  as well as clinical research, mainly in the field of penile cancer. His work entitled “Feasibility of delayed dynamic sentinel lymph node (DSLN) biopsy following primary surgery for penile carcinoma”, has helped to change the management of micro-metastases in the groin.

He is a well-rounded clinician able to provide clinical care, keeps up to date with the developments in his field, and is also able to share his knowledge and help develop the character and practice code of new aspiring medical students or doctors.
