December 2020

Ms Sue Chrysostomou has been appointed as the Careers & Alumni Manager of the Careers Office. She joined the Medical School in July 2014 as Student Support Officer and was promoted to Senior Careers Adviser in 2017. She has been instrumental in the facilitating of graduates’ global placements, evident in the Medical School’s consistent placement rate of over 99% for the MBBS and MD graduates.

Her colleague, Ms Karen Stephanou, has been appointed as the Careers & Alumni Adviser at the Careers Office. She joined the Medical School in May 2016 as a Careers Office Administrator. Her support and guidance to current students and alumni is essential for the Careers Office ongoing success.

New initiatives of 2020 have included an expanding alumni presence in offering expertise to current students. In the past, alumni travelled to the School to give presentations and advise current students, but due to the pandemic all presentations moved online. These virtual offerings are both expanding the resources available for current students and providing greater opportunities for alumni to get involved with the Medical School. Graduates could get involved in the following activities:

  • Advise current students remotely via Careers Lecture Series (topics vary from interview preparation to specialty training)
  • Present research remotely in new Alumni Research Lecture Series
  • Share your success and provide an Alumnus/a Testimonial for recruitment and marketing
  • Advise current students ad hoc based on specialty training
  • Participate in Admissions events as an Alumnus/a Ambassador

Ms Sue Chrysostomou, the Medical School’s newly appointed Careers & Alumni Manager said, “We look forward to further expanding our advisory services to current students and also extending participation opportunities to our alumni with the School.’’
