The University of Nicosia Medical School is participating in the project ‘Curriculum Development using VR technology to enhance empathetic communication skills in future health care professionals’ (EmpathyInHealth) which is funded by the Erasmus+ programme (KA203 Strategic Partnerships for higher education). The main aim of EmpathyInHealth is to create  a curriculum for empathetic skills development in healthcare practitioners and home carers based on up to date evidence and cutting edge technology tools.

On Saturday, June 4, 2022 the team delivered the ‘Train the National Tutors Training’ which is part of Intellectual Output IO7A7 of the Research Project.  Tutors in the field clinical communication skills were provided with an overview of the project and were trained in all Work Areas of the curriculum. In addition, the tutors practised with the tools developed as part of the project including interactive exercises, educational videos and the VR scenarios.

Starting from the academic year 2022-2023, the trainers will be able to deliver the curriculum  (which will be available to the general public in August 2022) to undergraduate medical students and doctors on postgraduate courses of the University of Nicosia Medical School.
