On Sunday 07 May 2023, the Mobile Clinic travelled to Episkopi village, in the district of Limassol, to participate in the 6th Citrus Tree Festival. The festival was organized by the NGO ‘ΕπιΔραση’ and the Episkopi Community Council.

This provided the attending student volunteers with an opportunity to offer medical services to the visitors of the festival. More specifically, the team took medical histories and provided blood pressure, glucose and body mass index measurements to a total of 87 visitors.

Overall, this was a successful expedition that demonstrated the importance of community service and provided valuable practical experience to the future healthcare professionals.

“The expedition to Episkopi was a wonderful educational trip that every medical student should experience. Having the chance to put into actual practice what we have been taught throughout the years, in addition to offering our service to the community, makes these expeditions so valuable. It was an opportunity to sharpen my clinical skills, meet new people, and obtain great satisfaction as a future doctor.”

Myrofora Demetriou, MD Student – Year 5, Cyprus

“Participating in the mobile clinic expedition was both satisfying and informative. The opportunity to conduct medical examinations and potentially diagnose an individual with undiagnosed diabetes was particularly rewarding. Interacting with and learning from students from other medical programmes added to the overall richness of the experience. I would strongly recommend the mobile clinic to other students, as it offers a unique and valuable opportunity to engage in hands-on medical work and gain practical experience.”
