Georgios Siakallis

Profile

Georgios Siakallis is Clinical Associate at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He graduated from the Medical School of the University of Crete, Greece, in 2006. Following his graduation, he attended the post-graduate programme in “Molecular Basis of Human Diseases”.

Dr Siakallis completed his master thesis in December 2008 with distinction. He continued working as a scientific collaborator at the laboratory of Clinical Virology, Herpesvirus department, until December 2009, when he began his Internal Medicine residency at the University Hospital of Heraklion. He was certified as an Internal Medicine specialist in February 2015, and continued his studies as an Infectious Diseases fellow at the University Hospital “ATTIKON”, in Athens. In February 2018, he was certified as an Infectious Diseases specialist by the Hellenic Ministry of Health.

He currently lectures at the Medical School of the University of Nicosia in Microbiology, as part of the  MD programme and in infectious diseases, as part of the MBBS programme. He practices in the private sector in Nicosia Cyprus. Dr Siakallis is also a PhD candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece.

His research interests are in pathophysiology of immunosuppression, infections in immunocompromised hosts, mechanisms of antibiotic resistance and applied basic science in infectious diseases.
