The Medical School’s kiosk titled ‘Tricking your Senses’ became one of the main attractions at the European Researchers’ Night fair which took place on 27 September 2019 in Nicosia. Dr Avgis Hadjipapas, along with Mr George Sycallides, Mr Chad Schou, Dr Nicoletta Nicolaou and Mr Argyris Evangelou put together an exciting set of interactive activities which involved visual and somatosensory perception. Drs Chloe Antoniou, Christiana Charalambous, Dimitris Kanakis, Stella Loizou, Panayiota Andreou and Ms Maria Perdikogianni assisted at the kiosk during the fair.
Visitors discovered the visual pathway from the eyes to higher areas of the brain, and the ways in which different senses are combined to make ‘sense’ of the world. They also discovered that what you see and feel is not always true.
