In addition, Dr Nicolaou has been appointed as a country representative and member of the management committee for the COST Action CA18106 – The neural architecture of consciousness. The combined management committee meeting and working group meeting was held last November in Zagreb, Croatia. Dr Nicolaou together with Dr Margarita Zachariou, the second country representative from the Cyprus Institute of Neurology and Genetics, attended the two-day meeting last November in Zagreb, Croatia. The meeting provided an excellent opportunity for networking and discussion and for developing future research proposals in the field of consciousness and signal processing for consciousness applications, as well as outlining a road map for the specific COST action working group. Further networking was also possible in a more relaxed setting during a “rainy” walking tour of beautiful Zagreb followed by dinner.
Furthermore, Dr Nicolaou has been appointed as a member of the Health sub-committee of the Parallel Parliament on Research, Innovation and Digital Government. Parallel Parliament is an initiative by the President of the Cyprus House of Representatives, aiming at fostering and further developing an interactive relationship and transparency between the House of Representatives and citizens. Dr Nicolaou along with other academics, entrepreneurs, researchers and scientists, attended the inauguration and meeting of the Joint Central Coordinating Committee of the Parallel Parliament last December held at the House of Representatives.
