The Royal College of Surgeons of England, one of the most prestigious professional surgical bodies in the world, held the Intercollegiate MRCS examination in Nicosia on October 23 2014 in cooperation with the Medical School. Following the examination, four of the examiners offered specialty lectures to our medical students. The lectures were given by Dr Duncan Banks, Dr Tim Terry, Dr Saroj Das and Dr Mike Wyatt and covered topics such as trauma, emergency care, urethral strictures, varicose veins and aortic aneurysms. The lectures were organised by the supervising examiner, Dr Roger Vaughan, in cooperation with Mr Chad Schou of the Medical School and were introduced by Assoc Prof Panos Economou on behalf of the Department of Surgery. A large number of students attended the lectures and engaged the lecturers with questions and discussion.
